There are an estimated 1.8 to 2 million migrant workers in Thailand. Due to its proximity to the border, the Thai city of Mae Sot hosts a large number of migrants from Myanmar. On this blog, clients and community partners of the Mae Sot Labor Law Clinic share stories that build context around the lives of migrants and raise awareness of the barriers migrants face in accessing justice. Many migrants remain undocumented and have a sensitive relationship with authorities, so several participants have wished to remain anonymous as they share their stories.

In cooperation with government agencies and private sectors, the Labor Law Clinic in Mae Sot seeks to promote and protect the human rights of labor, to increase the standard of human rights of Thai labor and migrant workers in Mae Sot and surrounding areas, to provide legal aid and to provide knowledge and understanding on labor law and human rights to migrant workers.
